Bocci opens European Headquarters & launches new collection at Zona Tortona
Bocci, a young Vancouver-based contemporary design and manufacturing house known thus far for its original lighting, returns to Zona Tortona for the second year to introduce a range of eclectic additions to its product portfolio. At the event, Bocci will also officially announce the opening of its first European headquarters. Based in Berlin and headed by European Sales Director Byron Amanatidis (formerly of E15), the new office will include a showroom and a fully stocked warehouse.During the Milan fair on April 22-27, Bocci will showcase a range of award-winning lighting designed to be clustered in groups: the 14 series is a family of low-voltage pendant lighting products that, when lit, glow like tiny candles floating in spheres of water; and the 21 series, inspired by the sporadic arrangement that barnacles make on a rock surface, features thin sheets of raw white porcelain wrapped around frosted blown borosilicate glass trumpet shapes. These two chandeliers are featured in hotels, restaurants, high-profile homes and establishments worldwide, including the Karl Lagerfeld boutique in Paris and the Phillip Lim boutique in Soho; W Hotels in Montreal and Atlanta; Neda in San Francisco and Dubai; Club Monaco in Hong Kong; Ilori stores throughout North America; STK restaurants in New York and Los Angeles and many others.
In a departure from the chandelier format, Bocci will introduce the 22, a complete suite of interior wall accessories for the European market that challenges the traditional, tired and ubiquitous cover plate concept; and the 25, an upholstered bench designed by Omer Arbel as a result of his exploration of folding and pleating technique.
Operating under the creative directorship of Omer Arbel, Bocci is committed to fostering a healthy cooperative community of designers, craftspeople, technicians, manufacturers and fine shops, with the goal of creating practical but also quite striking consumer goods of the highest quality.
